Our Community Came Together. 

Now, We're Doing It Again.

Last year, our community stepped up when local families were facing uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits.

Together, we served approximately 350 households and distributed nearly 15,000 pounds of food through the first SNAP Back Against Hunger.

What began as a response to an immediate need showed us just how much is possible when a community comes together to help its neighbors.

While the circumstances that prompted last year’s event have changed, the need hasn’t disappeared.

The rising cost of groceries, household necessities and everyday expenses continues to put pressure on families throughout our community. SNAP Back Against Hunger is returning to help ease that burden while connecting families with food, resources and support — all in one place.

What Families Can Expect

Families attending SNAP Back Against Hunger will have access to:

💙 Community resources and local organizations available to connect families with services and support

🧴 Hygiene products, available while supplies last

🧤 Hats and gloves provided by Salina Shares

👕 Be the Village Boutique, sponsored by Salina Area United Way, providing children with warm, quality clothing at no cost to families attending the event

Join us before or during the event to help organize donations, distribute food, assist families and support event cleanup.

🥫 Become a Food Collection Site

Turn your workplace, church, business or organization into a SNAP Back Against Hunger collection site!

Collection sites can select the shelf-stable food item or items they would like to collect, and Salina Area United Way will provide a printable collection graphic so your employees, customers, members and visitors know exactly what is needed. You can be a public or internal collection site. The link provides options to choose, but please contact us if you don't see an option you prefer! sauw@unitedwaysalina.org

Every item collected will be distributed to participating families alongside the groceries purchased for the event.

Sometimes a family's need goes beyond what's in their grocery cart.

Local nonprofits, agencies and community organizations are invited to be part of our Community Resource Fair and connect directly with families who may benefit from their programs, services and support.

Sponsorship support helps Salina Area United Way purchase groceries, provide event resources and create an experience that connects families with organizations that can continue supporting them beyond the event itself.

2026 sponsorship opportunities are available at $1,500 and $3,000, with recognition included through event and promotional materials.
