Salina Area United Way Announces 2nd Year of $25,000 in Matching Funds for Kick-off Event

Salina, KS Salina Area United Way is extremely excited to announce that for the 2nd year in a row, the organization’s 2023-2024 Campaign Kick-off Event will have $25,000 in matching funds. Thanks to a very generous donation by Richard and Sallie Morrison, donations on the big day of the event will go even further in creating impact for the community, the 13 Funded Partners this year, and the new Salina Area United Way Childcare Initiative.

“We are so grateful for the consistent generosity of both Richard and Sallie Morrison,” says Claire Ludes, Executive Director at Salina Area United Way. “Their dedication to giving back to our community, all while believing in the incredible work our Funded Partners are doing and the momentum that United Way has right now as a whole is so appreciated.”

Every year, Salina Area United Way's Kickoff Event signifies the start of their Campaign Season, where last year over $570,000 was donated to the United Way for Campaign to immediately impact local nonprofit organizations and their missions in the Salina community.

Salina Area United Way will be kicking off the 2023-2024 Campaign season with their Campaign Kick-Off Event on Tuesday, September 26th at Martinelli’s Little Italy. At this year’s event, when community members donate to Campaign or turn in their organization’s Workplace Campaign pledge forms, their donation will be fully matched to make an even greater impact on our community, 13 Funded Partner nonprofit organizations, and the ongoing Childcare Initiative that is making strong and sustainable steps towards combating the childcare crisis in Saline County.

This year, Campaign Kick-off will take place in the back room at Martinelli’s Little Italy. Join Salina Area United Way and their 13 Funded Partners from 4:00pm-7:00pm for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, music, Funded Partner nonprofit booths and more. On this day, the public can learn more about the great work the 13 2023-2024 Funded Partners are doing in our community, while also being informed on United Way’s new Childcare Initiative and the new Childcare Initiative Fund at Salina Area United Way.
